The Rainbow Trout Ranch Campground is located on the same property as the Rainbow Trout Ranch fishing ponds, southwest of Denver off US Highway 285, 4 1/2 miles south of Conifer, at Shaffer’s Crossing (Elk Creek Road).  The camping area is southwest of the fishing ponds and follows the shoreline and marshland of Elk Creek.  Elk Creek is a year-round flowing creek that affords campers a soothing sound providing for peaceful and relaxing ambience.  R.V. sites provide a magnificent panorama of nature among towering conifers, with views of mountain peaks.  Tent sites are concealed under pines, or on the bank of Elk Creek where possible.

The campground has electric hook-ups for all R.V. sites.  They can be switched from 20 amp to 50 amp.  Water is available for fill-up when you check in.  There are water tanks in the park with hoses to enable you to fill your tanks during your stay.  There are Porta-Potties in the campgrounds that are cleaned twice a week.  Flush toilets and showers are being planned.

The rate for tent sites is $25 per day.  R.V. sites are $37 to $47 per day.  Weekly rates are available.  We accept all major credit cards.

The campground is open from early May through October.

For reservations, call 303-838-5025.

We are located next to “One of the Crown Jewels of Colorado State Parks”.  Staunton State Park is next door on Elk Creek Road.  The park is a mosaic of low grasslands, rocky foothills, soaring granite cliffs and lush stream corridors.  Dramatic Elk Falls drops nearly 100 feet into North Elk Creek.  Staunton State Park includes 3,800 acres and has over 40 miles of marked trails.  Recreation opportunities abound for visitors of all ages and abilities, including picnicking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, hiking, biking, horseback riding and rock climbing.
